To suggest of Glandwr that "It’s far, far away from the civilized world as you and I know it. But if the Lammas have their way, that’s going to change" is as naive as it is patronising.

Glandwr certainly didn't need a pack of dreamy eco-squatters, pursuing what is essentially an oddball, luxury lifestyle choice and marketting it to Pembrokeshire council as 'sustainable living' to suddenly become acquainted with 'civilization'...

Surely, it would only be sustainable if every family on earth could similarly resort to subsisting off 4 acres of arable land but clearly such isn't possible and real solutions need to be sought somehow else.

I'm not saying that living off the grid can't be done, but those who do so usually don't shout to the world how wonderful they are. They just buy a mobile home, buy a couple acres of land, and settle in. They then set up their gardens and gradually build their house as time and income allow, often bartering with neighbors to get supplies.

This sounds like they are collecting money for a utopia. They are starting big and overblown...and it will undoubtably collapse when someone runs off with the money, or families get tired of the hard backbreaking work that goes along with rural living.

Do any of them actually have practical experience? There are lots of folks who are old enough to remember how to live a "sustainable" life...for real. and lots who still live that way.
