Wright. Although I am not convinced, based on his 20 years of close association and support of this man, I am more troubled by his now outspoken rejection of his statements. It deeply reflects on his lack of sincerity and his lack of leadership. It takes a strong personality to stand up for what is right. When racist, anti- Semitic, and anti-American statements were being preached from the pulpit of his own church, Mr. Obama never stood up to protest these statements. Why not? Why wouldn't the man who seeks to be President and the leader of the Free World, have the moral fortitude to speak out against such blatant hatred? It is only now that all of this has been exposed, that he ademantly denounces these statements as well as the award given to Luis Farakhan. Where was Mr. Obama while all this was taking place? As a parent, does he want his own children to be taught hatred? Only now does he want to distance himself from the firestorm, with gilded words of unity. It is true that you cannot pick your relatives and if your grandmother had improper racial thoughts you would still not abandon her. But Mr. Obama elected to follow and be mentored by Rev. There are a spectrum of people out there, on both sides of politics. The question is what the candidates do with these groups. Obama's campaign has removed the page. Obama does not support such groups. He has a message of unity, of working toward common goals together. If we continue to divide ourselves into small groups, we will not be able to build support for changes that we need to make. It's very important that we start coming together.
