The town of Apex is still evacuated, and chemicals— whatever they are — still burning.

Ages ago, I read of the strange properties when warehouses full of various commodities burn, as they did in the East end of London during the Blitz. Sugar burned very brightly, and pepper produced a very nasty, stinging sort of micro-ash. Rivers of alcohol ran along the gutters burning with a blue flame, and molten lead poured off of old roofs and puddle in the streets. A very odd experience for the firemen, and for civilian volunteers.

Many local residents will have to spend the night in shelters.
