Woking in the school system as a psychologist i have seen a drastic increase in children on the autism spectrum. As educators we are still learning, struggling with state funds and help, research and support. One thing is clear there is a clear increase of autism disorder. The state makes and policy makers really need to understand the need of there children... these children will be left behind as well as other children.

People with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome around the world desperately need help. I have a 9 year old son and I spend many hours in his class each week. There is an exceptional children cluster in his 3rd grade room. There are 4 boys in this EC cluster. (2 with Aspbergers and 2 with Learning disabilities) There are also 2 children in this class with behavior problems. The class only has one teacher who is expected to get through to all of these children. The two with aspbergers are constantly off track because of the disruptions in the room and the other two just play because they don't understand what is going on. They are always left to their own devices because there aren't enough hands to help or resources. Something needs to be done.
