For readers, young and old, “The End” is near.  I guess everyone knew it was coming since the newest book by Lemony Snicket to come out was entitled “The Penultimate Peril.”  Of course you know that penultimate means ‘next to the last.’  And of course if you are an avid reader of Lemony’s books, you know they are always chock full of new, exciting and wonderful lesser used vocabulary words and quixotic phrases.  So now, we are forced to wait for “The End” to appear in bookstores.  Hopefully we will see it soon.

For an author who has sold over 50 million copies of the 13 volume series, ‘The End’ is a bittersweet place for him.  “If you’ve ever written a book, it’s not really finished but abandoned,” he said in a phone interview from his home in San Francisco.

Reaching the end of “The End” “was a bittersweet feeling,” he observed.

I’m sure “The End” will be just as excellent as the series unfolded in “The Bad Beginning.”  I’m also fairly certain that we haven’t seen or heard the last of Lemony Snicket.
