There are many creditable and highly respected researchers from the academic community on this subject who tend to be ignored and lumped into the now pejorative term “conspiracy theorists” or as you say, kooks promoting bunk. This story, if anything, draws attention away from legitimate research which continues but which receives little coverage by the mainstream, except in a dismissive fashion. So let’s get to the bottom of it soon, permit those journalists with a bend towards sensationalism to pursue it to its conclusion, then turn our attention back towards the considerable new evidence produced by the serious researchers.
