A lot of us support charities, but have limited budgets.
Well, one way to give money to your favorite charity is to use the search engine GoodSearch .
Press links HERE about the service…and LINK is their list about how much they raised for various charities…
- St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has earned $5,200
- The Elephant Sanctuary has earned $6,600
- The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has earned $7,400
- The ASPCA has earned $11,600
- The Bubel/Aiken Foundation has earned $7,300
- Best Friends Animal Society has earned $4,500
- Penn State U. Dance Marathon has earned $4,700
Now, if you are a multimillion dollar foundation, a couple thousand dollars is a drop in the bucket. But if you are raising funds at Penn State, it could really help.
They have a list of all sorts of your favorite charities, including schools, religious and non religious charities, Environmental organizations, animal welfare, hospitals, and miscellaneous stuff. Indeed, the site has a little link at the bottom to add your local school to raise money.
I send my money to a small Catholic related website that promotes praying the rosary for peace, and produces a podcast… it’s a site I’d never be able to send cash to, but their podcast amuses me, and I figure what the hey…a laugh is worth a search (to paraphrase Henry IV )…
And you can add GoodSearch to your Firefox toolbar as a search engine.
The main problem? It’s Yahoo based, and sometimes I find Google is better.
But for those of you who like to feel good without sacrifice, it’s a good way to raise money…
Now, if they only would blackout their background to save energy, like Blackle, it would be perfect…
