[Lest we forget, the U.S. has robbed the people south of our borders of their lands, property, and even lives through aggressive wars, economic domination, regime changes designed to terrorize and exploit the peoples abused — Cuba was a prime example of repeated violations which finally produced a Castro. Seldom do our media (the principal source of information for most Americans) ever mention let alone do in-depth reports on such grim realities. The reactions against our abuses are now escalating with the Bush administration’s diversion of our resources to the Middle East — oil rather than bananas! As a recently retired college teacher of students from everywhere, I am particularly appalled by this latest domestic brutality directed against — yes, minorities.

“A war is just if there is no alternative, and the resort to arms is legitimate if they represent your last hope.” (Livy cited by Machiavelli)
