Hubba Bubba!
– and – Bubba Bash Scaled Back!

Two very different headlines about the very same thing, Bill Clinton’s Birthday party at the Beacon Theater in New York.  One article talks about the glamour, the stars, the big money, while the other says they had trouble unloading tickets.

What does any of that have to do with the grand scheme of things?  Nothing really, except that it points out very clearly that you and I, Mr and Mrs Joe Average, find it nearly impossible to make an informed decision about anything in today’s world of media spin.

An informed decision takes [drumroll please] information.  Pick any subject, any issue in the news, and you’ll find stories as far apart as the North and South poles, all on the same issue.  Which information do you use to make your informed decision?  The ice is melting… an ice age is coming.  Your senator is a crook… but ‘your’ senator lies.

We normal everyday citizens can’t pour through volumes of the Congressional Record to find out who really said what and when.  We don’t have access to all the data on climate change.  Which scientists are right, and which are wrong?  A lot of us are going to cast votes in an election next week.  Informed decisions?  Keep your fingers crossed, and go with your gut.
