This is the 12th edition of this somewhat gruesome, but very moorish series. Dr. Michael Baden takes us inside the minds of the autopsy specialists and the bodies of their subjects. This particular program moves to the high profile cases, the deaths that of people that are household names. The cast list of corpses is reads like a who’s who of the crime world. Former Chief Medical Examiner of NYC shares details on these landmark cases and how he arrived at his sometimes-controversial findings, and he is just the man to do it!
Dr, Baden starts with a very ‘cold case’, one that occurred at the end of the First Wold War, the disappearance of the Russian royal Romanov family. The case may be old, but when you dig long and hard enough, there are clues to be found.
There are few people on the planet that does not know what happened in Daley Plaza, Dallas on November 22nd, 1963. In fact this event is still being researched and talked about. The assassination of President John F. Kennedy shocked not just a nation, but the whole world. About the only aspect of the assassination that is generally agreed upon is the ineptitude of the investigation, both by the police, and the Warren commission. This should be a truly interesting segment.
Also covered are the notorious deaths of Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy four months apart in 1978-9; the shocking double-murder case involving O.J. Simpson in 1994; and the recent spate of illnesses and deaths of 9/11 responders. Dr. Baden shares details on these crucial cases. You may not always agree with him, but he certainly offers some thought provoking ideas.
Autopsy premiers tonight (Jan 9) on HBO at 9pm. I recommend that you check out the preview. But take my advice, don’t watch this while you are eating dinner!
