The Iranian Revl guards are the ones making mischief in the Shiite areas, and after "capturing" UK sailors, are now trying to provoke the US Navy guarding the tanker routes in the straits of Hormuz. Right now they are encouraging the Shiites in Bahrain to demonstrate for a religious government (the many gulf states are run by Sunni traders who unlike the Saudis allow freedom but not the vote for their people...a lot of Pinoys live there to work in the oil fields). Some aim at a Gulf Shiite run governments, with Iran bossing around the Shiite govt in Iraq and the small Gulf states. But Iran is Farsi, and the other states are Arab and have a long history of feuding. However, the missles to Saudi are to warn Iran that even if the US leaves under the next president, they will have to cope with Saudi lobbing smart bombs, not at civilians (as was done in the war with IRaq in the 1980's) but targeting them.
