I wrote a previous comment, but it disappeared (internet problems I guess).

You write a nice sermon but it's no help for those on the front line.

Check out the CSMonitor series on Pentecostalism in Latin America.
LINK

As for increasing the gap between poor and wealthy: That's nonsense. The poor are no poorer than in the past, but now they have TV and can watch the wealthy and resent the corruption of the rich...the way out of poverty is to join the increasingly Protestant middle class...work hard, be honest.

And I'm a Catholic and ex missionary....

Pshaw. You preach a beautiful sermon, but it doesn't mean anything.

The gap between the rich and poor has always been there. What is occuring now is that the poor are no poorer but there are a lot more middle class and rich, and the poor can afford Television and know how the rest of the world lives...

The main problem here is that the church is into liberation theology, and rightly condemns the rich exploiters, but they still see society as feudalism and noblesse oblige.

It is the Protestants who are teaching hard work is how one worships the Lord

And that is why the Protestant sects are gaining on the Catholics in Latin America and the Philippines. The Christian Science Monitor has a nice series on it LINK

Catholics could do the same if they weren't mired into the platitudes of the past...Centissiumus Anno anyone?
