The Khaleej Times reports “Foreign ministers from six major world powers were to meet here on Friday for crunch talks on whether to call for sanctions on Iran for failing to bow to demands to suspend its suspect nuclear programme.”

However, as the Houston Chronicle reports, the meeting “was disrupted when Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s flight was delayed, giving leaders little time to reach a consensus and making it unlikely.”

The attending nations include, aside from the United States, China, Russia, Germany, France, and Britain. Russia seems in no hurry to institute sanctions against Iran, despite the nation missing the deadline for stopping uranium enrichment. The business at hand for the group is not expected to conclude with a with a solidly decided course of action, due to Rice’s delayed arrival.
