[I had never thought out the horror of our current method of chemical execution which per this article risks inflicting terrible pain when simple dog euthanasia would just put the victim to sleep. Our beloved bearded collie had finally reached the stage where her suffering from a diseased brain outweighed the life she was living. Two of us took her to the vet where she was apprehensive, but quickly went to sleep following the painless injection that he gave her.
Capital punishment is a barbaric hang over from a Babylonian commercial code that got incorporated into the Hebrew bible. All civilized countries have abolished it, as did New Jersey last week. While the numbers of our executions are declining — even in Texas — this brutal practice still endures in Amerika — a shame to us all! Ed Kent]

States Hesitate to Lead Change on Executions
By ADAM LIPTAK
Why have states clung to an execution method with the
potential to inflict pain when a simpler one is available?

Ed, you draw a parallel that simply isn’t a parallel. The dog which was euthanised A) was a dog, and B) hadn’t murdered anyone in cold blood, thus the dog was deserving of a respectable passing.
The murdering animal who gunned innocent people down throughout the DC area and terrorized an entire region, does not deserve a dog’s death. I know of quite a few families who would like to see him shot in the kneecaps and allowed to writhe in pain for a few hours before being put out of his misery.
