<description>I continue to see this story everywhere and it is being misunderstood for whatever reason...

1. It is NOT illegal to RIP your CDs and place them on your MP3 player or Computer. The RIAA has made that statement in the past as well in Court.

2. It IS illegal to RIP your CDs then place them in a "SHARED" folder on your computer for others to access.

OK Not only can RIAA NOT change Copyright Laws but Judges can NOT change them either. No need to take my word for it but check out this link.

<description>Let’s just call a spade a spade here: When you ‘buy’ a CD for your own personal use, you are actually buying nothing but the plastic disk. The contents, the stuff that actually costs money, is merely ‘leased’.

Once we get beyond this point of denial, RIAA can continue their inquisition and jail all of us because even for those like me who grew up in the age of LP records, 8-tracks and cassettes, we made our own copies so the original would stay undamaged.

Just arrest everyone, fingerprint everyone and send the entire music market to the damned penitentiary. Let these gawdawful music masters have their way so there’s no more confusion of who is and is not the criminal here!

After that, we can debate about sales taxes on something we aren’t really buying.
