The John Edwards Love Child Sex Scandal is not going away.
The Edwards’ campaign has issued no statements, apparently either not completely sure what to say or satisfied that observers will dismiss the National Enquirer’s information that the supermarket tabloid started releasing yesterday as trashy gossip.
And indeed, things did die down today–for awhile.
By late afternoon, if one Googled “John Edwards” in “NEWS”, the Enquirer’s slot with accompanying stories had disappeared, to be replaced about topics like how “cool” the Edwards campaign was in Iowa.
The Enquirer’s slot on the Edwards NewsSearch returned this evening.
Maybe it was because some others are beginning to take notice of the curious affair of John Edwards and Rielle Hunter.
By an odd circumstance, Katie Couric, tonight’s CBS Evening News, asked the candidates their views on infidelity.
John Edwards was among them.
His answer, in its entirety, is contained later in this piece. The part of his answer reproduced at the top of this page may prove revealing, however.
Not a whiff of a statement from the Edwards campaign can be detected at this point.
Having read Sam Stein’s Huffington Post piece on the mysterious Rielle Hunter videos, I re-read it again last night and again a little while ago.

News of Edwards rising in the polls is quickly followed by this “investigation” executed by that pillar of journalistic integrity, the National Enquirer.
Give me a break. I was born at night…not last night.
Yes, there was quite a coincidence: both the time they ran this junk a couple months ago, and now. Then something good was happeningwith the Edwards campaign, and they went to take him down.n.
This week Edwards gains momentum again, is on the cover of Newsweek, and
and gaining steam and polls, and suddenly the Enquirer runs another story.
When Edwards becomes more relevant (i.e. marketable) the Enquirer
decides it is time to cash in: for shame Enquirer!
Good news. John Edwards can tell Ann Coulter that he isn’t really gay.
No proof but a DNA test of the baby can put this to rest for good. It may be wise for John to order one to show he can take charge as a president, and not run from even false charges, as that may show weakness as the US has many enemies giving false charges about us even now.

Uh, maybe you should have pointed out that she asked the same question to every candidate? I guess that would have required a bit of integrity on your part. And you wouldn’t then have been able to run your misleading headline, “John Edwards, Rielle Hunter Love Child Scandal: CBS Now Interested?”.
I’m not even an Edwards supporter, but your post is B.S.
I think this story about CBS interested in this story is a little reaching to say the least. Even though I am not a big CBS Evening News fan I have been tuning in weekly to hear what the canidates have answering the same question (in HRC’s case how she runs from every question and just says experience).
Anyway the entire segment was filmed well over a month ago and of course they sliced it up so we could get our little political fix a few nights a week with the current canidates and Katie asking the tough questions (all fluff).
I heard Bob Schiefer on IMUS yesterday morning and he even said there was no story there. I think he is more or less the voice of CBS News these days.
I think that the EDWARDS campaign needs to either ingnore the problem or take it head on right now because it sounds a little like “SWIFT BOAT” to me.
Maybe you guys should look into the afilliation of the current ownership of the National Enquirer in relation to the current Clinton Campaign, and the former Clinton Administration.
It Just seems odd how EDWARDS is finally getting some coverage in the national media (cover of Newsweek, Defining Moment in TIME) and they are finally talking about his policy ideas rather than hair-cuts. Not to mention he is drawing crowads of 800 in Iowa where the HRC and Obama are only drawing 200-400 without their celebrities.
When Iowans are polled correctly (based on how the caucuses actually work) he wins by a margin of 5%. This was shown yesterday in the “insider poll” which actually does what polling should do and that is take into account what is really happening with actual caucus goers and their precincts in relation to Iowas state party conventions. The ABC, USA Today, WSJ, TIME, CNN, Gallop polls are off because when they want to count apples when they are actually counting oranges instead, and they don’t even know it. This is why the Iowa polls rarely get it right when trying to pick a winner. They will be wrong about Iowa again this year it will be EDWARDS, OBAMA, HRC unless this story does what the plants want it to do and make the real canidate of change look like a bum.
um hello. this is not just smut. this is very curious. his wife is DYING of cancer. DYING a slow painful death. she is on constant medication. she has been his cheerleader. and he fathers a baby with a blonde born again bimbo? and has 2 small children that elizabeth carried in her 50’s which probably gave her the cancer (hormone treatment). and this is not relevant? YES IT IS. i mean clinton we think didn’t father children during his presidency. so this guy could have a love child secluding his mistress in chapel hill (why’d she suddenly move from nyc to chapel hill???) and now andrew young, edwards’ good friend, claims it’s really his love child and he has 2 kids with his wife who are all just scapegoats. this is relevant. i never understood why he continued with his campaign with a very will wife and small children anyway. wouldn’t you want to be with your wife during her last years and he’s a long shot anyway? now it makes sense. he has no committment to her, his children, or anyone but himself cause he’s selfish and has an ego. that is not who i want for president.

Ahh, now there was a story with actual proof (taped conversations. Linda Trip etc..) not just hearsay.

Simple, it’s so Young could be near his mistress when she goes into labor or if she has prenatal complications , you know she is pregnant.

Wait a minute, that was part of a push poll question targeting Edwards.

Whether, or not this is his child or not.There is question as to whether he had sex with this woman which would disgust me beings that his wife is most likely dying of cancer..No excuse for even hanging out with her on a personal basis.It shows the character of him..And after a loved one would die it is questionable to jump right into dating a woman shortly after a death..It is tasteless and in bad character.. either way if there is question about the DNA,the act of having sex with someone other than your wife dying or not is inexcuseable…
