The menace called sickle cell has broken many a good relationships.I am a Biomedical scientist practising in Nigeria, and have been moved with sympathy when I see the pains that cross the faces of intending couples on discovering from a lab test that they are incompatible by Hb-genotype(i.e both AS). This has become a criterion for choosing marriage partners. It would indeed be a godly relief, when couples like my heart-broken friend could marry their loved spouses without fear of SS.I long to see that day. thank you.

hopefully, there will be a universal cure in my lifetime. My genotype is ss, am a nigerian, 44, editor of a new quarterly magazine called sickle cell journal - maiden edition out December 2007 - and author of book, menace in my blood - my affkiction with sickle cell anaemia )excerpts at www.trafford.com/04-2825.
to reduce the scourge of sca in the absence of cure, couples ought to subject themselves to genetic testing prior to marriage and make a wise and informed choice as a consequence of that.
