The sad part is many will read this at Philly.com and take it seriously. Perhaps we should train our "street-naive teachers" what mint smells like before we confiscate the candy and send the kid to Attica. Perhaps now the drug dealers will spray their wares with breath spray to disguise them as IceBreakers. Hershey's, yet another innocent casualty of the ill-fated "War On Drugs".
Maybe the inventors of crack should have made it so as to more closely resemble chocolate...

Derek:

You hit about 4 or 5 nails on the head with one comment.

You're exactly right.

'Unbelievable overreaction' is absolutely what it was.

I wonder, after all is said and done, if they will be able to live down the statements they made in this?

Such an unbelievable overreaction. The thing that gets me is that they are claiming that dime-bags on the street are "heat sealed", when the examples they show are clearly mini zip-lock baggies. No street dealer would bother to use dime-bag sized heat sealed bags. Most don't even bother to use the mini zip-lock baggies.

Not only that, but they are also saying that it looks like "crack cocaine", when it is a powder. Do these narcotics experts even know what they are talking about?

I'd also like to know why all these narcotics cops and police chiefs think that Hershey's product development department would be street drug experts.
