"OK, you win. The pro-life people convinced me I was wrong." So goes an imaginary conversation I envision Romney having at some point in his conversion from pro-choice. It may never have happened but the essence of it has. He has committed himself to pro-life principles and is willing to sign on the dotted line. So at what point do the pro-life people declare victory?

My husband and I have nearly identical positions on abortion. We both believe that children are a precious gift, that abortion is only permissible when the life of the mother is in danger, in cases of rape and incest, or when fetal abnormalities are so extreme that the baby would not survive outside the womb. If our teenage daughter were to become pregnant, we would counsel her to give the baby up for adoption, so it could be raised in a loving home with a mother and a father. We hope that hearts will change on this matter, making abortion more and more rare – and adoption more and more welcome!
Nevertheless, we both cringe at the thought that scared teenage girls in trouble might seek out back-alley abortionists. These girls obviously don’t think about consequences and my husband and I don’t want the price-tag for their immature folly to be death. I’m less sympathetic towards adult women, who should know better, BTW....
So, are we pro-life or pro-choice...?
Well, the truth is that my husband regards himself as pro-choice and I regard myself as pro-life. But it is the SAME position! I think you’ll find that Romney’s position on abortion has always been pretty much in line with ours. Did he flip and flop, now that he feels that life is progressively being cheapened – and he sees himself more on my side of that very artificial line...? (A line created by lazy journalists who only want to deal in soundbytes.)
What exactly does pro-choice mean anyway? Does it mean a woman should be allowed an abortion at all stages of pregnancy no matter what? Some would agree with that, but some would say no. Or does it mean that up to a certain point a woman should have the option if there are mitigating circumstances, like health issues or rape? Somewhere in between?
What exactly does pro-life mean? Does it mean that a pregnancy cannot ever be terminated, no matter if it costs the mother her life...? Some would agree with that, but most would say no. Or does it mean that a pregnancy should not be terminated unless it poses a threat to the mother’s life, or other extreme circumstances...?
I think that if you’ll look you’ll find that Mitt Romney is a very principled man – but one who is loath to force his high standards of behavior upon other people. Abortion is an issue that is only going to be resolved with people changing their hearts. That doesn’t happen overnight, and certainly not with in-your-face sign-waving and name calling. It seems to me that many do not want people to change their hearts. What’s that all about?

Mitt Romney has always been pro-life.... But as it relates to the government stopping people from having abortions, thats where he has changed. Since 2004 he has been Pro-life and governed that way in Mass. He stopped Boston from turning into the Las Vegas of Gay Marriage and from 2004 on, governed on the side of life.

I believe that this guy so smart he will bring positive change to DC.

Vote for Romney.

Seems like basic claim here is Mitt 'flipflops'. The only real evidence presented is the abortion stance change.

Well, I don't see it that way. Abortion is a very complex, sensitive issue, with both extremes of the issue having their arguable points. Even the praised Reagan "flip-flopped" on abortion. Yes, Romney has changed his mind. One who wouldn't change their mind with new information and experience is considered stubborn, narrowminded, and generally midieval. (and while there was a 'flip', there has been no returned 'flop') The 'flipflop' link in your Romney attack chain is a weak one.

I do tend to agree with your admitting twice of his ability to get things done. He does have an incredible mind and is the most driven, organized, and principled decision maker of the presidential GOP candidates right now...and he's a family man with one wife and children that actually support him.
