Adnan, it is not said in all religions. As a matter of fact i have not read about beating women in my studies about religions for the past 18 years. The quran says to beat women if you only fear the women are doing anything wrong. It is so sick that they are to be beaten even if they have done nothing. Surah 4:34 "Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. !As for those from whom ye fear rebellion,! admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great." Look at Surah 65:4 too, instructions on how to divorce little girls who are immature. "And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the 'Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months, !and for those who have no courses [(i.e. they are still immature) their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise,! except in case of death] . And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver (their burdens), and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him."
