The State Department is responsible largely for the mess in Iraq...Bremmer was there and sat behind his desk guarded by three lines of Gurkhas and other security. The only thing State did in the first three years of running Iraq was one mess up after another.
We are still paying for it today.

Huh? Wimp out? WTF are we sending them into a warzone for. That's what soldies are foor, not diplomats. They are right to resist. Soldiers volunteer to die (and kill) for their country. Diplomats don't, and frankly, shouldn't -- why do we need so many (or ANY for that matter) there? Bless them for speaking out against this ridiculous entanglement.

It is yet another sign of the mess that Iraq has become that foreign service officers are so vigorously protesting assignment to Iraq. On my website, in which I write about issue in the Middle East, I have often noted that things seem to be getting progressively worse.
