Video Clip: Hannity & Colmes appearance
Is N-word OK to For Some to Use, Taboo for Others?
Dog the Bounty Hunter appeared on FoxNews’ Hannity & Colmes last night. Say what you will, but everyone seemed to be willing to show the Dog some love. Even Tamika Mallory, Decency Initiative at the National Action Network, who’d called earlier for Duane Chapman’s show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, to be pulled off the air was even-handed. It was reported that the show’s sponsor, Yums, had pulled its advertising from the popular TV series.
Mallory, part of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, was entirely reasonable by saying that their organization is against any use of the “N-word”, whether it’s by black or white entertainers. During the clip, there were no overt calls to remove Dog from the airwaves. Arts & Entertainment Network announced earlier in the day that they had canceled the show, after announcing suspension of the series’ production on Thursday.
The entire story has sparked debate about the use of the N-word at all, by black or white entertainers. Can a word be OK for one group’s usage, and taboo for another?
Chapman’s spiritual advisor also had some sensible words, saying that he’s been trying to get Dog to clean up his language for the last year.
What’s a Bounty Hunter to do?

Transcript excerpts from Fox News:
DOG:DUANE “DOG” CHAPMAN, “DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER”: I’m not take a chance on some (EXPLETIVE DELETED). I don’t care if she’s a Mexican, a (EXPLETIVE DELETED), whatever. It’s not because she’s black. It’s because we use the word (EXPLETIVE DELETED) sometimes here. I’m not going to take a chance ever in life of losing everything I’ve worked for, for 30 years, because some (EXPLETIVE DELETED) heard us say (EXPLETIVE DELETED) and turned us into “Enquirer” magazine. Our career is over. If Lyssa was to date a (EXPLETIVE DELETED), we would all say (EXPLETIVE DELETED) you. And you know that.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackbackthis is every day langauge wether the whites or blacks or n e ones race does it,why they make a big deal out of it!!! now that richards dude now that was uncalled for he desevred what he got,,but part of society is its n the everyday langauage
What is being done to The Dog is absolutely RIDICULOUS! Had an African Anerican been caught calling some caucasian person a Cracker or Honkey or any of the other hundred slurs used for the white race, this would never have gotten any play at all. But because he made the mistake of using the “N” word now he stands to lose what he has worked so hard for 30 years to build. I have heard the “N” word used in a deragatory manner towards white, hispanic and other races. It was used towards their character and actions and not their race. I think that there are too many African American folks out there that are way too sensitive or are looking for a way to make a quick buck off of anyway that they can. As to Dog’s son, shame on you dude. If I were Dog you my man would be out of my life forever, I don’t care who you are.
Go Dog!!!!!!!!!!!! I will raise my girls the same……………No shame
I think your missing the point here – Dog said things that were very offensive. It doesn’t matter if he was directing his racial slurs towards black people or not. He pretty much sums up the fact that he is racist and doesn’t want the world to know about it. The “N” word gets thrown around a lot off air, he says, and he can’t afford to let that get out to the public just so that it could mess up his career – he said it himself. Listen to that tape conversation and you can easily tell how he really feels about black people. Why do you protect him and deny the facts here? I don’t agree with how this was leaked. Tucker definitely messed up by selling out on his dad the way he did for financial gain but I am glad that it’s out – his dad is racist and in denial of that fact and it sounds as though you are in denial of that fact too. Don’t down play the situation here, and don’t misconstrue what is really being said. Its people like you who keep trying to lighten such intolerable racist behavior and who unwittingly make this social behavior more socially acceptable with comments that defend people who do such things. White, black, Chinese, Mexican, it doesn’t matter what race you are, it should not be right to make such disrespectful racist comments about another race and if we all saw eye to eye on this I can assure you that we would be one more step closer to ending racial segregation (because it is something that is still among us) and view ourselves not as Black or White or Yellow or Brown but as “People.” I am not black but I am still offended. He may not have directed any racial slurs toward me but I am still upset. He may not really be racist deep inside but than why make racist remarks about a particular race if your real intent is to show dislike to a person from a particular race? Get A Clue!
