Intersting read... It's interesting because it reveals a lot of stereotypes. A few quotes:

"Russian missiles will be aimed at European targets, including American antimissile bases." -- And what a hell are americans doing there? Are these little children playing in the backyard? Did you read the Foreign Affairs articles about how important these kind of sites to give US a capability of first nuclear strike with no retaliation?

"Putin’s government is persecuting independent oil companies and attempting to nationalize the industry." -- I bet you Arabs and Russians wouldn't mind buying Texas oil fields either... When last year Saudis (I think it were Saudis) wanted to invest into some an american sea-port used to deliver oil a huge uproar started and the deal was cancelled.. Gazprom is not allowed to participate in european gas transport networks... so overall it seems like a usual practice to restrict foreigners from participating in the local energy markets and Russia is just following a standard practice.

"father of all bombs" -- this is just laughable... US is developping micronuclear devices, wants to start puting weapons into outer space, cancells ABM treaty and puts missile interceprtors on all the perimiter of Russia. "Father of all bombs" is just a thermobaric weapon -- it has very limited use in very limited environments -- it is a kid's toy compared to what US does.

Overall the main stereotype is that US somehow has rights to do stuff like invade others, make new weapons, orchestrate coup d'etats to put puppet governments, etc. Well, if you reserve these rights expect others to play rough as well...

Thank you all for taking the time to read this long (3 page) article, and for your astute observations. There is a part two coming up, probably this weekend. Karl, I like the bear and the fangs analogies, nearly used them, but couldn't quite fit them in. But they are very appropriate. YOU ARE RIGHT, ASH--This is chilling stuff. And there's plenty more--including a poisoning AND shooting incident of, I believe, a female journalist. This was only a sample. --Mark Mercer

Regarding Putin. Very good article. Wow, this is ONE TERRIFIC web site!

It goes back to an old tried and true saying, "A leopard can't change its spots." And this Putin leopard further proves the old adage. And in the case of Russia, make that their symbolic bear.

Most recently, the Ruskie bear has stood up to its full awesome height and barred his fangs and deadly claws regarding the US expansion of this endless war. Why? This attitude goes waaaaaaay back. It's Moma Russia not wanting to get invaded. So the Bush/Cheney stupid and evil twins had best just get the fu*k out of Russia on their way to Iran. And drop the whole Iran invasion notion.

Putin ain't no dummy, Hiram! What will happen if the US invades Iran? They have to cross a river and go too close to Mama Russia. Putin will kick our a*s. And so will Iran.

Of our own evil twins, the really bad guy is Cheney. He's a sick old man. Let us pray that the Good Lord takes him away before there's a war with Iran AND Russia.

And what a governing system we have? If a company chose CEOs like this, they would be out of business and sued by every government agency. But we elect amateurs to run the country? Really scary, smiley-face devil incarnates like Obama are taken SERIOUSLY! And grown up, but still little preppy girl at heart, Hilary wants to pilot the ship of state.

The only candidate I MIGHT vote for is what's-his-name, the old actor from down South. But he's really sl000000000000w on the uptake.

It's pretty much like my Dad said, "It doesn't matter WHO is in (office)."

Hey everybody have a great day anyway. It's yet another day that the GOOD LORD has given us! Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
