The separation of humanity into wheat and chaff? Science-fiction or truth?
The following news is not nearly so startling as one might think. Digest the headline, look at the picture, read the story, then see if you agree.
Humanity may split into two sub-species in 100,000 years’ time as predicted by HG Wells, an expert has said.
Evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry of the London School of Economics expects a genetic upper class and a dim-witted underclass to emerge.
The human race would peak in the year 3000, he said - before a decline due to dependence on technology.
It’s good to know that humans have another almost 1000 good years left in them. The good doctor might have gleaned the next bit of news by standing outside any London pub in the hours before closing time.
People would become choosier about their sexual partners, causing humanity to divide into sub-species, he added.
The descendants of the genetic upper class would be tall, slim, healthy, attractive, intelligent, and creative and a far cry from the “underclass” humans who would have evolved into dim-witted, ugly, squat goblin-like creatures.
Now, the urge is strong to lament that it’s going to take 100,000 years before the political spectrum divides itself clearly into the two branches that today we call “Left” and “Right”. Left wingers will immediately recognize the knuckle-dragging, dim-witted, squat sub-species as the conservatives that they’ve come to know and love, so to speak.
However, as has been pointed out before, the Left with its fond attachment to things death-related, abortion rights and right-to-die primarily, may have trouble reproducing in the numbers neccesary to ensure the survival of the sub-species.

I am a layman, but I did take Stephen J. Gould’s class at college. For a speciation event to occur, there needs to be isolation of a group of the population for many generations. How is this going to happen with globalisation and travel becoming more of the norm. There also needs to be some sort of environmental pressure, I suppose I could imagine global warming leading to pressure to survive, but who is to say that it will result in creatures that he seems to think will be entirely sexually selected. It may be just the oppposite, the creatures with features that are grotesque to us may be most adapted to survive.
Finally, I don’t think there is any correlation between intelligence and looks. If you look at the so called developed world, most of us are fat and overweight and hardly good looking.
Sounds like Nazi Race Science warmed over. For them, the goblins were the Jew and the Gypsy. Who will those inspired by the likes of Oliver Curry paint as the new untermensch I wonder? So much for Human Progress.
