		<description>No defense of communism in Mozambique or Zimbabwe here. But to be clear, there weren't many good guys in the Mozambican civil war. Those fighting the socialist government were for the most part pro-apartheid. Both sides engaged in unspeakable atrocity.  Zimbabwe seems to me to be less communist in its idealogical meaning and just plain corrupt and stupid and racist and fascist. You are correct in tracing the arc of man-eating behavior, however.  There are fewer Mozambicans being eaten now.  Far more Zimbabwans are victims, however, as they do anything to cross to South Africa, considered the "America" of Africa.</description>

		<description>Umm...the Arab slave traders decimated the tribes in Mozambique, and then the Portuguese exploited Mozambique but the massive starvation didn't start until the communists took over in the 1970's.

Actually, the place is starting to recover in the last ten years. 
The bad news is that the communists now have control of Zimbabwe.</description>
