As a UK soccer fan I have noticed the game in Italy being in slow decline for many years but I believe it is no great loss to the sport. The Italian style of football is not good on the eye with its emphasis on defense, playing counter attack soccer and believing that winning is more important than entertaining. It is no wonder fans are moving away from the game in droves and there is little interest in European competitions - you only have to look at the small crowds they attract for these games. Not wanting to sound partisan, I will be glad when there are less teams from Italy in European competition and the quicker the decline the better.
