Public lies by Brenda Youngerman is a succinct well thought out page turning novel. At less than 300 pages it is a nice quick read. She manages to evoke the characters well. It essentially starts with Nancy Cooper grabbing her two children and running away from her drug
taking abusive husband Vince, with the help of her family she leaves town and begins a new life under a new name. Obviously Vince is obsessed with getting his family back and is in hot pursuit. The plot has great suspense and a few twists which give the novel great pace and make the book a good read. It does manage to show just how ludicrous and arbitrary the family court system can be in an entertaining and poignant way.
It’s so nice to read a good novel that keeps your attention and does it so well.
