Mufti outrages Muslims over sex comments

According to the linked story here, a recent sermon by the-so called leader of Australia’s Muslims “ likened immodestly dressed women to meat and suggested rape victims were as much to blame as their attackers”. Or in Mufti Sheik Taj el-Din al-Hilaly’s own words: “If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the back yard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it . . . whose fault is it, the cats’ or the uncovered meat?”

Well, that seems to have gone over like the proverbial lead balloon, and rightfully so. For a marvel, Muslim women in Australia are reported to be most particularly outraged… as are those women who were actually victims of rape, especially a series of particularly vile gang rapes perpetrated by young Muslim men on women and girls who were particularly targeted because they were not Muslim. Al-Hilaly’s remarks are interpreted as rationalizing, or even excusing rape, and cries of “misinterpreted!” and “taken out of context!” and “Sorry you took it that way!” do not seem to be cutting much ice with anyone this time. Not after the Sydney gang-rape trials, not after the Cronulla riots (which were initially sparked by reports of Lebanese Muslim toughs intimidating and harassing local residents, and beating up a couple of beach lifeguards). Considered in the wake of those events, the Mufti’s cat-meat sermon may be just the absolute and ultimate final straw. It’s been at least a quarter of a century in the Western world that “she asked for it ‘cause of the way she dressed” has been a viable defense for a rapist. The good Mufti has been physically living in the Western world nearly as long… one would have thought that would have been quite sufficient time for him to have caught on to these little refinements. Apparently not.
