(London, UK) The Autism Awareness Campaign UK has released a DVD on autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, titled ‘Autism Action’ in Autism Awareness Week which runs from 1st October to 7th October.

Autism Awareness Week in  the UK is being organised by the Autism Alliance.

Ivan Corea of the Autism Awareness Campaign UK calls on the Prime Minister Gordon Brown to initiate a national strategy on autism in the UK. Campaigners also want Mr. Brown to launch a 10 year program of action on autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. This includes a building program of specialist autism schools, a national autism compact with employers and a debate on autism and the elderly.

Britain’s premier Gordon Brown, Opposition Leader David Cameron and Liberal Democrat party leader Sir Menzies Campbell have received copies of the Autism Action DVD. The film is directed by Ian McLeod.

The soundtrack of the film contains the moving Nimal Mendis song for autism, ‘Open Every Door’ sung by British  musician Rozagy who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Rozagy hopes to raise funds through her cover version of ‘Open Every Door’ for the renowned Autism Research Centre based at Cambridge University. The Centre is led by the distinguished Professor Simon Baron Cohen, a world expert on autism.
