Dance is not my favourite genre, but some is better than others. Tokyo Calling 2 is an interesting compilation of works. Many artists that live in the dance genre rely heavily on sampling and remixing. Personally I find this style unsatisfying, I much prefer original work. It was with great trepidation that I plonked this in my CD player.
I was pleasantly surprised by this release. I found it reminiscent of Sade, very easy going and delightfully melodic, exactly what I wasn’t expecting. It is unusual to find originality in this kind of music but Tokyo Calling does come through, and if you are a fan of Sade you likely will want to pick this CD up.
