On October 2nd, the newly formed CBS Records will be re-releasing Will Dailey’s new CD Back Flipping Forward. You already may have heard of Will Dailey without even knowing it. Hi songs have appeared on numerous network and cable TV shows such as ABC’s What About Brian, MTV’s The Hills, Lifetime’s Army Wives and CBS’s CSI: Miami, Jericho, NCIS, The Young and The Restless and most recently the new kid based reality show, Kid Nation with Dailey singing the theme song, The Tears for Fears remake of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”.

But who is Will Dailey? Let’s see from what I can gather he’s been playing in bars and clubs in the Boston area since he was 16 and is a local favorite in Beantown. In fact he won “Best Male Singer-Songwriter,” at the 2006 Boston Music Awards.

He seems pretty passionate about what he does, I mean he sold his red Honda Civic to finance his first album, GoodbyeRedBullet (Named aptly for his car) and with the help of friends and family generated enough publicity to sell more than 10,000 copies. I mean this guy is like the traveling minstrel, traveling from town to town reaching new fans through the shear power of his music. His live shows are quite engaging and you really should experience one for yourself.

After the success of his first CD, he hit the road and did an extensive tour of the West Coast. The album Back Flipping Forward was inspired by his experiences of his tour and comes through on the songs like “Hollywood Hills” and “Eliza”, they tell of tales far from his native Boston. And to this, Dailey says. “That kind of national experience and the traveling, getting your hands dirty on the road, definitely seeps back into your art without even trying.”

He’s been compared to of Jeff Buckley, Ben Harper, Donavon Frankenreiter and Martin Sexton and rightly so, he’s a good singer/songwriter and it is quite evident on Back Flipping Forward. From the swoon of “Boom Boom,” to the acoustic folk anthem “Dear Grace”, Dailey delivers 10 tracks that are fresh, diverse, genuine and intelligent. If you don’t know Will by now, Pick up the new album, it is a great way to get acquainted with him. Also, you can get a glimpse of him “live” when he performs his first single “Rise” on-camera in a scene with Gary Sinise on a special episode of CSI: NY on October 17.
