<description>"funding for the troops is presented like an average fight over tax money"

Why shouldn't funding for troops be presented like a fight over tax money? That what it is -- tax money, right?

Who wrote the Republicans a blank check to spend whatever they want on ill-advised, ill-planned, and poorly executed foreign adventures, anyway? Controlling the national pocket book is Congress's Constitutionally granted responsibility, and I'm glad their doing it. The White House sure seems to have not concept about limiting spending, so I'm glad someone is trying to do it.

Why does Iraq get a blank check when &lt;a href="http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Sep20/0,4670,CongressBridgeCollapse,00.html" rel="nofollow"&gt; we don't even have the political will to pay for bridges back home?&lt;/a&gt;</description>
