We at The Animal House (Jamaica) (theanimalhousejamaica.org) have always wondered about the large, international animal charities (so-called) that sit on millions of dollars whilst shelters like us (the ones that are actually caring for the forgotten and unwanted animals of the world) struggle daily to feed and care for our animals. The good things is that people are starting to look at this situation and realize that something is wrong. Thanks for the article:)

There is only reason why animal rights activists and groups complain about the conditions that animals are kept under. They use such issues to try to get a ban on ownership.

The charity fraud that Zuzana wrote about here is aimed at getting money from unsuspecting pet owners in a bid to end all ownership. Like Mary said, there are a lot of animal rights advocates who can talk out of both sides of their mouths at once, saying that good owners should be allowed to keep their animals (someone from Big Cat Rescue actually told me that they intended that, ha ha), and in the same conversation saying that all ownership should be banned.

Why do so many people give money to a cause without knowing what the charity is doing?

This blog is supposed to be about non-profit charities, however I would like to respond to the former post. It is not uncommon for people to raise young animals in their home and transfer them to larger facilities as adults. This is similar to raising children who then leave home to go to college. There are those who prefer working with adult animals and if they are wanting and willing to take them it is a win win situation. As long as the animal is properly cared for this has no bearing on it's welfare and could actually benefit the animal who is moved to a larger enclosure.

Where is there a case of someone giving up 20-30 of the same exotic. I've herd of that with bunnies if you are counting them. I know f no laws that say you can have baby animals but not adults so that claim is absurd too. es their are a few ad owners but it's only a FEW that's why it makes the news because it is so rare. And who is "giving away" exotics. They are expensive! Your just making things up and twisting a few isolated cases. You can't even keep your self strait you said good owners should be allowed to keep animals then say no one should have them.
