"That Bush would rely on these two men to craft our war policy in Iraq is beyond belief." Yeah, I can't believe he would actually rely on a four-star general who's on the ground everyday and has first hand experience of how the President's policy is actually affecting the country. He should've just guessed how it was going over in Iraq and not listened to anyone who is actually over there. Right. Maybe he should've listened to left wing lawmakers who aren't over there either, instead.

I know the situation is a mess right now, but honestly, reading stuff like this every day pisses me off. This is a war. A war that most Americans were behind. Wars are not quick, painless, or without bloodshed. Now that you're realizing that it takes time to wage a war and people will die over the course of it, you just want to give up and leave. Nice.

Yes it's an unpopular war, yes a lot of it hasn't been handled well. Yes American lives are being lost over there, but that's what happens when you go to war. At least the president has the guts to stay the course in the face of Democrats who care more about their political careers than what's good for America. And if you think rooting out terrorists in Iraq and establishing a Democracy in the middle of what is otherwise a dangerously fanatical Islamic part of the world is bad for America, think again. I'll rest easier when our troops are brought safely home, too, but not if it's because we're giving up due to unpopularity in the polls. Then where will we be?

I didn't vote for Petraeus or Crocker to dictate US policy. That's the function of the elected members of the legislative and executive branches. That Bush would rely on these two men to craft our war policy in Iraq is beyond belief. What a damaged and totally ineffective president. Guess he's no longer the decider.
