(London, UK) Autism campaigners stepped it up a gear when the appeal to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was released on You Tube. Ivan Corea of the Autism Awareness Campaign UK urged Gordon Brown to launch a national strategy on autism and a 10 year plan of action on autism to include building specialist autism schools, initiating an Autism Compact with Employers so that people with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome are given access to the labour market, particularly for those who are able to work.
Also appearing on the film on You Tube was the leading British Parliamentarian, Lee Scott MP who is on the House of Commons Select Committee on Health. Scott has championed the cause of autism in the Palace of Westminster and has vowed to take matters further when parliament is recalled in the autumn.
The Nimal Mendis song for autism, ‘Open Every Door’ sung by Birmingham based musician, Rozagy, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome – a form of autism is on the soundtrack for this moving DVD. Rozagy’s cover version is creating a great deal of interest in the music world. ‘Open Every Door’ is a cry of every parent with a child who has autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.
The Autism Awareness Campaign UK is calling on Gordon Brown to take decisive action on autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.
