(London, UK) A few days ago a cover version of a song called ‘Open Every Door’ was released in Great Britain by mediaeyeproductions. This is a song for autism, written by the distinguished Sri Lanka-born singer song writer Nimal Mendis who lives in Hillingdon in the UK.

The song is sung by British musician Rozagy who lives in Birmingham – she is a mother of two children. Rozagy herself was recently diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. She is storming the music world with her cover version of ‘Open Every Door.’

Quite recently, Ivan Corea, head of the Autism Awareness Campaign UK sent copies of the ‘Open Every Door’ CD to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the Secretary of State for Children, Ed Balls.

Speaking in London, Ivan Corea said: ‘I warmly welcome Rozagy’s version of ‘Open Every Door. I have urged Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Children’s Secretary Ed Balls to listen to this beautiful, moving song and act on autism. Every child with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome deserves a world class education. Many are not receiving it. That is why we have called for all avenues to be open to them – be they mainstream schools with autism units, special schools and even state-of-the art specialist autism schools in every county. They have so much potential. I appeal to Gordon Brown to ‘Open Every Door’ to every child with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome in our country.’

‘Open Every Door’ was written by Nimal Mendis about an 11 year old British boy with autism, Charin Corea – he is the son of autism campaigners Ivan and Charika Corea who launched the Autism Awareness Campaign UK in 2000. They have campaigned for all people with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. They are appealing for better public services.

Autism is a neuro-developmental disorder, over 500,000 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum. Over 90,000 children in the UK have autism. According to British researchers, 1 in 100 children are on the autism spectrum.

‘Open Every Door’ is a moving song – it is the cry of every parent who has a child with autism. Rozagy is hoping that a major recording company in the USA or UK will release the song on a commercial basis and promote it all over the world.

She is hoping to raise funds for the highly respected Autism Research Centre at Cambridge University, headed by the distinguished Professor Simon Baron Cohen, a world expert on autism.
